Cani-VTT ( Bikejorging )

Bikejoring

Bikejoring consists of riding a marked trail with your dog on a bike in a minimum amount of time. Your dog will be linked by a shock-absorbing leash to your mountain bike, which will reduce shocks. Your dog must always be in front, but you must at least put in the same effort as your dog. To start this activity, you must already be a good cyclist yourself, because this is still a sport of speed and requires good control. Your dog will need to know the directions and speed commands. It is also advisable to start with cani-cross in order to have a good base.

So if you are an experienced cyclist and your dog has mastered the commands of directions and speeds, this activity is for you.

The cani-VTT will allow him to exercise himself physically.

In order to have good basics and to avoid any mistakes that could be difficult for your dog to correct, it is recommended that you start this activity under the supervision of a dog-training professional.

Afterwards, you will also have the opportunity to participate in official competitions.

Where?

  • In a canine club or during introductory courses given by canine educators. The advantage is that you will not be alone and the courses will have already been tested and approved.
  • Once you have learned the basics with a professional, you will be able to go almost anywhere, taking into account the weather conditions, safety (avoid places where there is traffic) and your pet's health (duration and speed).

What?

  • For your dog, a harness specially designed for canine sports
  • For you, a good mountain bike that meets the standards and your safety equipment (helmet, etc.).
  • A 2.5-meter shock-absorbing leash and a tether system for your bike.
  • Sweets for a little comfort after the effort (pâté is not bad! 😊) and water (do not let him drink and eat too much and too fast, risk of stomach torsion.

When?

All year round depending on weather conditions.

Who?

This activity is suitable for all breeds as long as your dog is healthy and has finished growing. However, you will need to adapt your speed and the length of your trip according to the age and abilities of your four-legged friend.
