Like a dog in water

Many dogs love water, some breeds are even predisposed to love it because they were bred for hunting game (Golden Retriever) or sea rescue (Newfoundland). However, it is clear that it is not because the breed is predisposed to love water that it will be the case. The learning process is progressive and positive.

Dr. Capozzi from the veterinary office de La Fonderie offers us an interesting information:

Water dogs have webbed paws for better swimming.

This membrane allows them to swim better but also to have a better balance on the ground. It is important to know that all dogs are born with an interdigital membrane between the toes, but as they grow, this membrane decreases in most breeds.

We propose you below a video to discover the Newfoundland breed, good viewing! 😉
